George W. BAUCUM married Mary Elizabeth TYSON HOOPER on 28th May, 1868 in Pope County, Arkansas. They were divorced there on 7th April, 1870.

The marriage record states that George was eighteen years old and 'of Pope County', so if this is correct he was born about 1850.
A son, Joel Eli Baucum, was born on 6th April, 1869.
In February 1870 a bill for divorce was filed by Elizabeth naming George as defendant. The divorce papers indicate that he was still present in Pope Co. at that time. But depositions filed on Elizabeth's behalf stated that in January 1869 he had left the home he had shared with Elizabeth and refused to return.
The divorce was granted on 12th April 1870. In the 1870 census, dated June 1st, George no longer seems to be living in Pope Co. We have no record of where he was born nor of what happened to him after 1870.
Elizabeth Tyson, eldest child of Samuel TYSON and Sally B. SPARKS, was born in 1839 in Montgomery Co, Tennessee.
After the death of her father in Pope Co, AR in abt 1855, she married John R. HOOPER. They had two sons, John Thomas Samuel 'Sam' Hooper, and James M. H. Hooper. John Hooper died in 1863 while held in the Confederate prison at Point Lookout, Maryland.
In May 1868, aged twenty-eight, she married George Baucum, aged eighteen, but in April 1870 her bill for divorce was granted and she changed her name back to Elizabeth Hooper. By the 1870 census she was living in Pope County with sons Sam, James and Joel Eli.
She died in 1875, her burial place is unknown but is most likely to be in the Atkins or Galley Rock areas. Her son James was not listed as an heir in the probate papers. Surviving sons Sam Hooper and Joel Eli Baucum were made wards of George BYERLY, a farmer in Pope County.
