September 2006 - We have learned the results of mtDNA testing of a matrilineal descendant of Aubie Jo Camp Baucum, 1926 - 1985, daughter of Chester Clyde Camp and Minnie May Chappell. Aubie Jo's most distant known female ancestor is Margaret Josephine Thompson, 1865-1905 (Woodruff Co, AR). Margaret Josephine Thompson's mother may have been Elizabeth Taylor? who was married to Adlai Horatio Thompson (born TN abt 1832) but no records have been found to prove this. Go to the Aubie Jo Camp Heritage page.

March 2006 - We have learned the results of mtDNA testing of a matrilineal descendant of Maud Johnson Baucum, 1881 - 1974, daughter of John T. Johnson and Mary J. Dollar of Pope Co, AR. There had been speculation on Maud's history due to suggestions of Native American heritage. Go to the Maud Johnson mtDNA Heritage page.

July 2005 - We have the third set of results from y-DNA testing, a Baucum believed to be a descendant of Johan von Baucom and Susannah Vandergrift. Go to the Project Results.

Surname DNA Project

We invite all males with a last name of Baucum, Baucom, Bawcum, Balcom, Balkcom and all variants to participate in the Baucum Surname DNA surname project. The project mission is to identify individual family lines with the intent of seeking common ancestors, possibly breaking down brick walls and broadening or uniting current areas of genealogical research into Baucum (et al) origins. All variant spellings are welcomed. Please contact us for more information on what this means, how we can work together to further our research, and how you can contribute. We will welcome you and try to answer your questions. As we obtain test results we will be updating pages on this site with our results and conclusions. Read more at the Project Overview or the Project Results.
